y
morning began with a fifteen minute conversation with one of the
most colorful and talented of rock musicians. Once, long ago. he
was the drive behind the Beach Boys, but, as he stated most clearly,
he is no longer a Beach Boy; Brian Wilson. The interview
will be aired in a couple of segments at various times of the day,
within the next 48 hours, on KNX a.m. Prior to that and subsequently
too, the conversation can be monitored through Podcasting - a fairly
new method of receiving syndicated audio content - at no cost. Once
the interview is put on the server, users can simply listen to the
file at any time, anywhere in the world, or it can be downloaded
to your PC or Mac by using Podcasting software. Since Podcasts are
MP3 audio files, users can also transfer feeds to an MP3 player,
if desired.
It is very exciting technology and has become known as "Radio by Appointment" or "News
on Demand". All of the more memorable of the conversations of the past year
will be included in the available library. The upcoming few days will include
a most revealing conversation with Dominic Dunne of Vanity Fair. He's that brilliant
society reporter who appears to have a fascination with celebrity involved murders.
This began, for him, with the brutal slaying of his only daughter by her boyfriend.
The fellow was as guilty as sin, but only served less than 4 years behind bars.
His coverage of the sickening revelations during the O.J.Simpson trial made an
enormous impact on his readers and his frequent TV appearances during that period
turned him into a celebrity. We'll hear his views on Robert Blake's civil case,
in the wrongful death shooting of his wife, Bonnie Bakely. He's soon to be heading
west to report on the upcoming trial of record producer Phil Spector. A most
bizarre man and a very strange case.
With Podcasting you can call on the conversations at any time and you can also
'subscribe' (at no cost to you), which would mean that you would have downloaded
to your compuer, automatically, anything we broadcast, any time.
Podcasting, like so many of the emerging formats, had an underground and cutting
edge beginning. There are thousands of podcasts being created every day by amateurs.
Now more and more "pros" are getting involved and with the medium being
barely a year old, the medium is sure to change and grow considerably in the
immediate future.
No one is making any money out of this - yet. But it is fun.
I'm lead to believe that in terms of advertising, the medium is beginning to
attract interest. Many podcasts already have small-scale advertisers or sponsors.
I do hope you'll join us...wherever you are in this world..at any time.

In my next journal I must tell you how I think
and feel about the man who supposedly is our Chief Executive. We deserve better...much
better. And then I'd like very much to hear your response.
